I would not say I did not like, but I was a little confused by a certain part-It was not clear that the date rape reenactment happened to both actors, sadly. I thought it was the story of just one actor and the other was just acting it out. Only after speaking to one of the actors after the show was it made clear that they both had similar experiences so they wove it into one. Perhaps adding a line that says “How sad that we both shared a similar experience” or something to that effect would hammer in just how many women suffer this fate. But thank you to the actors for being vulnerable and sharing this highly sensitive and personal information.
My overall impression
I liked how much was done with such a minimalistic approach. The placement of blocks, scarfs, intertwining of characters, stories. It flowed well, was engaging, creative, moving, funny and sad. Had some very profound moments. Each woman had such unique perspectives and individual journeys despite all being from a South Asian background. Each voice was so distinctive and powerful in their own way. I had goosebumps at various points of the show and found myself literally saying “Wow” aloud several times throughout the performance!
