What does it mean to “come out” in 2022? THE POST follows girlfriends MAYA and EMILY home after Emily’s 30th birthday dinner. But when one of Emily’s high school classmates “likes” her coming-out post from college, unearthing it from the depths of Facebook hell, it sparks a conversation between the two about what coming out looks like in a world of rampant social media use, abuse, and attention-seeking. Emily is shocked when the younger Maya admits that she never wrote a formal coming out post and worries that she’s missing out on an important queer experience. As the night unfolds, the two share their journeys as lesbian women, both testing and strengthening their relationship in the process.
