Teruko Nakajima is a superstar and this show is a glorious juggernaut. I cried so much, my mask was soaked by the end, but I also had such a WONDERFUL time! I laughed, applauded, and hollered throughout Teruko’s brave story. You will triumph in her success and marvel at her fearlessness as she brings awareness to woman’s rights, mental health, familial trauma, domestic violence, first generation immigrants, sexual assault, and child abuse. The show left me feeling inspired and in awe.
Also, I haven’t felt proud of living in America for a long time, but after Teruko’s final speech, I thought if someone as amazing as Teruko can admire America’s good qualities, perhaps there is hope for this country yet.
What I didn't like
Nothing. This show was magnificent. I want to see it as a movie, podcast, tv show, book, ALL of it!
My overall impression
I’ve been working in theatre for over 20 years, and this is one of the best shows I have ever seen. A breath-taking, beautiful, hilarious, heartbreaking, thoughtful, sexy, joyful, and FUN show! It is important for America (and the world!) to see this piece of art.
