What I liked
The only disappointing thing that happened to me was that I was unable to see players upstage while they were speaking since performers below were blocking their view. I don’t know, maybe it was just my seat.
What I didn't like
Ascension Day was a very fascinating article about young people and the bonds they make at a summer Christian camp for kids.
This work evoked a range of emotions in me. Love, grief, hope, and geometry dash lite despair. Memories of the summer camp I was never able to attend.
My overall impression
We were able to go between the several locations of a summer camp with the help of the simple but efficient set. A cottage, a dock, and a classroom. The simple set was unable to fully represent these settings, but the lighting and sound design succeeded admirably.
The several locales’ respective moods are expertly established by the lighting effects. I really liked how understated the lighting in the private moments was.
The performance was excellent. I really like and appreciate all of the young performers in the ensemble. Each of them got an opportunity to really showcase their expertise and love for the work.
