About the Project

When two bipolar people, living in different worlds, are linked by a telepathic connection, the results are a harrowing yet comical look at today’s mental health crisis. About to turn 30, Alana Welsh finds herself once again in the psychiatric ward at St. Vincent’s Hospital. She can’t get over the feeling that she is being watched and is spiraling out of control. Hospital Nurse Donna Summer hoped Alana’s previous visit was her last, but she is back, and this time, Alana has a new doctor who has different opinions about her diagnosis. Alana’s roommate, Rose, is undergoing ECT treatment, and Alana sees improvement at first, but then watches as Rose slips into her own world. Alana’s mother is at the end of her rope, wondering if her daughter will ever be “normal.”
At the same time, on the other side of the stage, up-and-coming street artist and painter Blue Alberson is seeing images of objects held in a woman’s hands. He started seeing these visions 3 months ago after he literally ran into a girl at he 2000 DNC in DTLA . He would see hands holding a dead bird, a crucifix, or a Rubik’s Cube and felt compelled to paint it. It is bringing him big-time fame and money.. but who is this girl, and what happens to him when she shuts down? Would they meet? Are they even in the same Universe? It’s clear their connection is Quadpolar.
