What I liked
I loved the physical comedy. Michael owned the stage with authority and hilarious self awareness. He was flexible, loose, and playful. His voice had a beautiful rich range of emotion and vulnerability mixed with brash confidence. The blow up lovers were fantastic, the dildo was so wonderfully gross, and I loved the show starting and ending on his laptop glowing in the dark.
What I didn't like
I felt like some of the transitions felt long. I wanted to hear more dialogue/communication during some of the changes? Some more “into me see” as we moved throughout moments.
My overall impression
Dickin Around’ is a hilarious journey through one man’s heartbreak and into self actualization. It was laugh out loud funny, Michael is a brilliant, intelligent, comedic voice. I was engaged, surprised, grossed out, turned on, tickled, and exhilarated throughout the show. And it was beautiful to witness the culmination of one man’s introspection throughout the pandemic. Brava!!
