What I liked

I loved the moments of humor that came with the uniqueness of each character, from daisy’s dancing to the conspiracy theories and because of the humor, the ending becomes almost like a gut-punch, to wake up to the reality we live in. This makes it even more heartbreaking, but also very real.

Also in the movement sequences, the cast felt very connected with the use of breath and that came across even on screen!

What I didn't like

Adding subtitles to the livestream performance would be very helpful.

My overall impression

Coming from a bi-cultural heritage myself, and growing up in different countries, the concept of living in the liminal/in-between spaces is something I understand very well but never seen before in performance. Chacha Tahng breaks all Asian archetypes with the uniqueness of each character shining through every scene creating moments of humor, sincerity and heartbreak. The use of movement throughout poses more questions than answers but these very questions reflect the reality of being a young Asian person in society today. A must watch for all.
