Homesick is a coming-of-age story that explores the boundary between family—found or otherwise—and self. It dives into such themes and narratives as: codependency in groups, sexuality, gender, identity, and the idea of home. The story focuses on a group of teenagers who have all found themselves without homes due to varying circumstances and as a result have banded together: five against the world. Together they take on an unforgiving world all while trying to hold onto a vestige of their youth.
