The cast is full of heart and can still sing with gusto even in the midst of an onstage horse chase! And the staging was successfully creative, evoking a journey through a “very large kingdom” with few props and sets. But the lyrics, music, and message are the real show-stealers.

It’s unclear to me how Alanna’s new-found passion for adventure will be sated by doing accounts for a merchant. I was surprised she didn’t become a squire. But working for a merchant, does she have the opportunity to travel sometimes? Maybe to distant lands via ship? And maybe encountering pirates…?
My overall impression
Inspirational (and Aspiration-al, heh), family-friendly musical with alternately rousing, haunting, and catchy medieval-styled tunes supporting a great message and lots of funny lyrics. This show has everything the Age of Adventure should have, knights, brigands, a monster, high-speed horse chase through a forest, and of course, heroes. I dare you to see it and not come away smiling and singing!
