Energetic and Enthusiastic Cast! Imaginative Minimalist Sets & Costumes, which enhance the power of the show! Song Score (with reservations)! Overall Concept and Execution!
What I didn't like
Lighting Design and Execution, which didn’t seem to be in sync with the staging, despite plenty of LED lights on hand!
My overall impression
Though executed with sophistication, this remains an Imaginative and Ideal hour-long musical with which to introduce school youngsters to Live Theatre! Why isn’t it in the LA curriculum already? Cast = energetic and gave it their All; song score = swell and well-slotted (but not always 100% adept); minimal Sets and Costumes tickle the imagination. I enjoyed all of it—-EXCEPT Lighting Design & execution, which didn’t seem to be in sync with the staging! Lots of moments left cast (and audience) literally In The Dark! This = 1st preview with 5 more weekend 200PM matinees to get this part of their act together! I hope they do!
