August 16, 2021What I liked
The costumes, use of pre-recorded projections for the AI, and acting helped immerse me into the world. The characters and the issues they dealt with felt real and relatable.
What I didn't like
It was unexpected when 2 new characters were introduced in the 2nd half of the play. Although I understand their roles in the overall story and how they help show how the 2 military characters were changing, it felt a little out of place since 1 of those new characters never shows up again. The ending also felt a little abrupt. I think the final scene is meant to show a relatively happy ending for the main family, but we don’t learn what happened to the rest of the characters or the world. There are many scene changes in order to move the story along with all of the characters and it makes me wonder how the story could be fleshed out if the play was longer than 90 minutes.
My overall impression
A fun, emotional futuristic dystopian story that is very relatable to today’s societal issues.
