What I liked
The main character’s background (real-life story?) of being a surviver/thriver and trying to get by in L.A. with grit, inventiveness, and determination. The ending was especially beautiful.
What I didn't like
While the main character receives kindness and compassion especially at the end, the first half of the show seemed to have a mean streak. A young-looking doctor was made fun of because just they looked young— the audience all seemed to laugh at jokes about them needing to “report back to middle school”, or something about not being of proper voting age, etc. Similarly, the loud-voiced person was made fun of because they had a loud voice. And so forth. While the beauty of the show was the compassion the main character received at the end, the contrast was hard to overcome.
My overall impression
Heartwarming story about the main character and kindness of strangers, but other characters were made the butt of jokes. In a story about compassion and empathy towards strangers, this asymmetry stood out.
