I absolutely loved the cinematic feel to the show. It was edited in such a way that formed an overarching structure that was vital. It felt like the journey was happening in real time—and it builds, and builds. By the end there are about three quick cuts that go back and forth in time and place that feel so right.
Heathers performance is visceral and present, sometimes I’m not sure if it’s a child in front of me or a grown woman going through a divorce.
Because Heather is so invested in the moment it has an unexpected and uncertain edge to it. I feel like that edge might be the heartache of the story. A wound that still aches. This sensibility in the direction and performance I thought was just brilliant and allowed an access, a way to be intimate with the audience that you usually only find in a close-up. But it was there— on stage—a live performance with grit and pain for all of us to see.
