What I liked

I loved Heather’s performance. I loved her writing. I loved the use of lighting to go back and forth between dark and light content. I loved her choice in stage props and costumes, both real and imaginary. I loved her ability to capture a common piece of the human condition in love and marriage relationships in this day and age, and her courage to take responsibility for her own part too. That being said, perhaps appropriately, her protagonist part was a sliver of the pie compared to what the antagonist doled out. I liked how she was able to play the antagonist with grace.

What I didn't like

The only thing would be to show more sides of the antagonist, not just the shitty. Granted, this character was/is weighed down in extreme and hurtful cowardly human behavior, but Heather Tyson actually married him at one point, so he can’t be all bad. I want to know what’s behind the coward’s blue eyes. Just for maybe 1-2 extra minutes though (dispersed throughout). That’s really all a cheating coward should get. More than that, and we risk having more cheating cowards messing with courageous souls.

My overall impression

Heather’s show had me completely absorbed from lights up. She simply pulls you in. I laughed and I also cried. I could honestly watch her perform for hours on end. The show is well-written and traverses a lot of deep ground, but easily floats back up to the surface where she uses her real life experience as an automotive expert to contain a love and life story tragedy in a metaphorical box. Speaking of boxes, her use of them, and what’s in them, is equally beautiful. Heather is also an extraordinary performer. I drove down from Berkeley to see Title Pending. I would have driven from the East Coast. It’s really that good and that great. If you’ve ever been betrayed indeed, this will hit you where it once hurt, and give you a chance to maybe reflect on how far you’ve come.
