I’ll add that the percussion brings an intensity and mood to the show that’s subtle but really effective.
What I didn't like
Nothing didn’t work. I think you missed one opportunity when Boudica first fights to be warlord. That fight should be quick. She should slice and dice him in 10 seconds, leaving her opponent stunned as he dies quickly. It would show just how great she is at fighting and would provide a brief lighter—almost comedic—moment.
My overall impression
This is an excellent production with solid acting and writing. A well played and truly badass Boudica brings a feminist passion to the battlefield. The stage combat—and there is a lot of it—is the star of the show. It is particularly well staged in the small confines of a 99-seat theatre.
