There was comedy and poignancy. The actors were committed to their roles and gave it their all with high energy performances. It was fast-paced and fun to watch.
What I didn't like
The “Goodfriends” segment was confusing at first, but once I “got it”, I thought it was clever and very funny. I think the intro could set it up a little more clearly. Maybe play the “Friends” theme a little longer before the play begins, or make it crystal clear right away that these women are actually the TV characters. But still a really good piece.
My overall impression
Over the past few seasons of Fringe, I think I’ve seen all the shows Chris Valenti has written and produced. They always entertain and provide a fun night of theater. Five Short Drives continues this welcome tradition.
