What I liked

The stagecraft was very inventive. I loved that 3 of the housewives were hiding right in front of us on laundry. The use of the shirt puppet was also very fun and creative and the play really utilized the large space of the Broadwater MainStage well. All of the cast members were also extremely talented.

What I didn't like

I don’t think anything could be improved in this play. But in an age when feminism and women’s rights are under attack, I found it curious to create a play about women in 1952 whose biggest concerns were baking the perfect pot roast and finding the perfect lid for a plastic container. In his next production, I would encourage John in all his genius to create a work that inspires women to be their greatest selves outside the home, as well as inside.

My overall impression

A fun, creative well directed play. It was a unique and effective combination of movement, dialogue and song.
