Ophelia awakes, strapped to a medical gurney, with only the company of a single doctor and nurse in an abandoned hospital. They try to convince her of the impossible: that she died in a car crash, and is slowly coming back to life. Ophelia fights against being treated like a dangerous animal, but the truth may indeed be that she is the first female case of a plague that turned all human men into murderous zombies before killing them all. Is this the beginning of the end of the human race? Or is Ophelia only a bullied girl, fighting to escape continued victimization by forces more powerful than she?
“Where Is The Breakdown?” was originally written for Chicago’s Babes With Blades Theatre Company, and is not only the West Coast premiere of the play, but the West Coast premiere of Babes With Blades in Los Angeles. An all-female, stage combat theatre company founded in Chicago in 1997 by Dawn “Sam” Alden, Babes With Blades is expanding its reach to produce in Los Angeles’ thriving theatre community.
