Normal Times: Ten New Short Plays by L.A. Playwrights

About the Project

New Playwrights Foundation (www.newplaywrights.org), a volunteer-run 501©3 charitable corporation, has been helping developing playwrights, screenwriters, poets, novelists and songwriters since 1969. To celebrate our first 50 years we are pleased to introduce new work by eleven playwrights — wordsmiths who, using only speech, are able to open new worlds to our imagination. Join us on a hilarious, terrifying, mysterious, and thought-provoking journey from post-colonial Boston to an upscale suburban bistro; from a military base in Viet Nam to a snowy pass in the Rocky Mountains; from a university lecture hall to a cemetery in Oklahoma to an art class where the still life won’t hold still…

Participating writers are Randy Ball, Stanley Brown, Grace Bruno, Victor Cabrera, Mitchell Glaser, Syrie James, Alice Lunsford, Daniel J. Marcus, Neil de la Peña, John Reilly, and Cara Tower. Directors include Vic Cabrera, Mitchell Glaser, Cosmos Kiindarius, and Neil de la Peña, with music and sound by David Raiklen.

From the earliest days of its existence, NPF has helped nascent playwrights, screenwriters, actors, producers and directors sharpen their skills and better realize their potential through an ongoing writers’ workshop; occasional theater, film, and video production; and special events such as the L.A. Times Festival of Books and this year’s Hollywood Fringe. The workshop meets alternate Thursday evenings in the Santa Monica area. We invite you to visit us.
