(Note should be taken of the word "experimental" in the description.) Some indulgent over-acting by the lead, but also some very interesting ideas throughout. In general, a mixed bag of talent and interpretations. We are not familiar with this group's approach or methods, but the piece would seem to benefit greatly from a writer and/or director with a firm hand.... full review

A great, solid effort from a group with a lot of potential. It really moved me, which is great. The lead was good and kept the play running and it left me wanting more, the play could have benefitted by being longer, but was the standard length of a new production. I would maybe even see it again towards the end of its run. ... full review

Just saw the matinee. An interesting piece that could really have done with a director. The British girl had a finesse that the other performers lacked and often it was hard to hear some of them over the music. Could have potential.... full review

It's not everyday in Hollywood you can see some great acting in a dark edgy play with some hilarious moments, but this is the case here. I went to a matinee and thought the energy on stage was great. I'm going to take my stubborn film friends next week as I believe this will open their eyes to great contemporary plays. ... full review

Interesting directing choices create a very heavy dose of realism in this play. It was like you were looking right into an apartment where the actions happens. The music added to the drama well and the performances by the cast were impressive. A more detailed set would have added to the realism but captured the essence of the tragedy. ... full review

Wow! An intense play! We went after seeing the LA Weekly review in the Fringe bar and we weren't dissappointed - it lived up to the hype! I'm not used to plays having that much energy with the action as relentless as the protagonists amazing fall from grace. I really liked it and it made me want to get back out there and perform again. Well done Brooklyn Studio Lab!... full review

Being a lady of my day, I had to see a show with a review that says "American Psycho for the Hipster Generation." (ID Magazine) You are in Dominic's apartment for the entirety of the play, watching him as he drinks, orders a prostitute with ardent specifications, and works on his novel, dressed in a Chinese Robe. As much as I didn't want to empathize with the lead, I found myself drawn into his intricate fabric of manipulation and lies. What is this "do-nothing" actually going to accomplish? The answer is heartbreaking, making for a shocking climax and a somber mood to finish. Bravo to Director/Lead Actor Richard Crawford for boldly staging such a seldom-dramatized, heavy subject. Standout performance to Ruthie Stephens, whose port... full review

Take this with a grain of salt because I left Diary thinking it was a comedy. I gathered that it was not after enquiring around. Whatever. I was cracking up throughout, I may have even slapped both my knee and that of my companion who could not stop laughing. It was a small house ans we were all laughing. What can I say? I love dark humour and this humour is dark. The main character steals the show as he somehow manages to take a character who is already low to even lower depths with his substance fueled behavior ala Trees Lounge. In fact, I was so enrapt with the titular character that I felt cheated whenever any of the other characters intruded upon what a companion described as "his extended private moment". It could have been a closer to... full review

really lost some of its direction along the way. Overall some good themes, and interesting questions raised, but it lacked any cohesiveness.... full review
