You can’t escape the 1980’s, an era that gave us some the best romantic comedies and coming-of-age films. In a nod to the decade’s biggest rom-coms, Jimmy Fowlie directs Groundlings-trained comedian Janell Lenfert in this musical comedy about a woman in her 30s, who, having been raised on John Hughes classics like Sixteen Candles and Pretty in Pink, falls in love with a co-worker and romance ensues. Lenfert and cast mates lip-sync to such pop and rock hits as Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody,” Hall & Oates’ “You Make My Dreams” and Wham’s “Careless Whispers,” as well as dance to ’80s-style choreography.
