About the Project
Based on the true story of Amie Enriquez’s year long journey through a 28 day addiction treatment program, “Lightweight” examines a complicated young woman’s attempt to survive anorexia, commune with a dead music icon, and maintain a debilitatingly positive attitude in post 9/11 New York City. Set in a rehab center in which we also meet fellow patients, therapists, and family members, Lightweight is an un-romanticised and painfully funny coming-of-age story that explores themes of self discovery, self love, self hate, and what gets exposed when we are stripped away of everything that we thought once held us together. Written and performed by Amie Enriquez. Directed by Lauren Weedman.
