About the Project
When Aidan was 6, her mom died. But she’s fine. No really, she’s fine. There’s no way to say she’s fine without it sounding like she’s not fine. But, she’s fine…really. Do you remember the first time you felt special? Like really special. For one frozen moment in time it was all about you? For Aidan it was the first time she had to tell people that her mom died. And she loved it.
In the world premiere of ‘Smoochy Girl’ we follow Aidan on a journey through her life and self-discoveries after she experiences the addictive high of feeling special. But through this coming of age story, Aidan learns that you can never quite recreate that first high.
At one point in everyone’s life they will experience the loss of a parent, but losing them before you even knew them? Now that is a very specific experience. Unfortunately, there’s no rule in any handbook on how to react when your mom dies at 6. ‘Smoochy Girl’ is a hilariously-honest and heartfelt story about a girl without a mom, who becomes a woman with one.
