The humor was fantastic. The bravery to veer so deeply into the personal so vulnerably, to the point where the viewer must reckon with their own discomfort and potentially their beliefs – this was handled in such a skillful way. Also what an incredible dedication to a best friend and the carrying on of a shared vision. It was both an honor and a privilege to behold.
What I didn't like
Honestly I can’t think of much of anything worth noting. Each of the themes were woven together with such nuance. The universal found in the maddening pain of the present. The nature of eternity expressed through an emotional odyssey. The trauma that unites also being the trauma that can tear and devastate – and the ability to hold all of these truths through different expansive (yet personal) characters. I’m excited to know if/when this will be mounted next.
My overall impression
Not only one of the most compelling one person shows I’ve seen – one of the most moving and transcendent pieces I’ve seen in a long time. Tackling these topics are hard enough. The fact that what came together was at once so intensely personal, hilarious, and profoundly human blew me away.
