A must see. I thought the lighting was put to effective use- at times even disturbing. Samantha Bowling is a magnetic and strong performer- seeing her at 90 minutes at a stretch never lagged, and her transitions between characters were believable. Her versatile singing voice is well used here. She carries her body- at times laying on the floor -with stark honesty.
What I didn't like
I liked how Tina was held back as if hitting her face on a glass barrier- that could be expanded on.
My overall impression
This show was incredibly entertaining- and I was also in tears! A meditative and erudite examination of life, the cosmos and loss, it also manages to be very funny. Samantha Bowling transitions seamlessly from critiquing her own fashion choices to telling her rape story, from afterlife jokes to grappling with her friend and creative partner’s suicide.
