“Falling in love felt like being shot out of the sky.” When she fell for someone she discovered was entirely a figment of her own imagination, Licity’s whole self-definition had to change. She had always seen her self like a vulture, soaring high above the world with ease, coming down only to feed on the vittles of life, brilliantly turning carrion in to art magically for all to admire. It all seemed so straightforward until that classic “I hope you understand” text message came through. It had been ten years since she had allowed someone to be inside her physically, and now Licity realized that in order for that to happen, she would have to get more naked than even sex required. She would have to be as naked and raw as she had ever been—with herself—before any one else could. And then, she met her hero. Dubbed “full-frontal,” by NPR, song and prose writer Licity Collins shares this feel-good (eventually) tale with her signature intensity, joy and love delivered through story and song.
