About the Project
I AM WILLA is the true story centered around the harrowing loss of Nefetari’s mother, Willa over Mother’s Day Weekend. Nefetari, the only child has to go back to Chicago, figure out how to handle her mother’s affairs only to find out it’s a possible homicide. Nef’s dynamic storytelling ability of this process will make you laugh while crying as she seamlessly transforms into more than 15 characters. Nef has to come to terms with this loss and realizes Willa’s shortcomings were that of a woman trying to cope with systematic oppression, low self-esteem and terrible dating choices. Like mother, like daughter. Although Willa had to overcome her demons, she was very clear about rearing Nefetari via unconventional methods to be the greatest in everything she wanted in life.
