The lead actors did a phenomenal job carrying the show, along with the older woman who brought a lot of light and heart to many scenes. I enjoyed seeing the traditional Japanese Classical Dance and the fight scenes.
What I didn't like
I couldn’t tell if the white actors in the play were meant to be Japanese or European/American or otherwise and it did confuse me a bit. Perhaps that could be made a bit clearer, but they all did a great job in their roles and maintained very commanding presences as high ranking officials.
My overall impression
This play immediately pulls you into 12th Century Japan with its costumes, sound design, mannerisms, and speaking style. I thought it was an aesthetically beautiful play and appreciated learning about a traditional Japanese love story.
