About the Project
The title Lost In Transition is a spinoff of the phrase “lost in translation”, the meaning that is lost while translating from one language to the next. It refers to the protagonist Shion Sharon Lee’s lost identity while transitioning from one culture to the other.
Shion Sharon Lee is one of many Korean diaspora who grows up in two cultures: the U.S. and South Korea. She wants to become an actress but faces many obstacles: language barrier, racism, Korea’s lookism, and her own identity crisis.
In the midst of confusion, she writes her own play and communicates with the audience directly and through the lens of film using multimedia on and off stage. The audience may be Korean, American, or another foreigner, just like herself…
