I absolutely adored this show. Brilliantly natural, witty dialogue / effortless banter between characters / and flawless transition to a an achingly gorgeous sobering ending which was so real & raw and came out of nowhere because we had been laughing at antics so hard from the start. Christine Covode’s brainchild “Dear Mom, Sorry for Being a Bitch” is a charming work comprised of outlandish anecdotes that are simultaneously hilarious, touching, and vulnerable. Covode traces her adolescence through animated tales of awkwardness and social reckonings during her middle school, high school and early college experiences. In addition to a series of crushes and quasi-boyfriends, each scene includes the presence of Covode’s mother, effectively portrayed by one of Covode’s comrades. We witness, with all too much familiarity, the process of Christine coming to understand her mom as a sentient person with thoughts and feelings of her own, and a person largely undeserving of years of her daughter’s developmental angst. This show was INCREDIBLE! I walked in expecting a comedy show, but this was far more than that. This was an extremely well written theatrical work masterminded by the comedic genius of Cavode. She is funny, original, relatable, and down right awesome....
