Stand out performance by Marjorie Knight, giving a beautifully layered and nuanced performance, The piece rolls through the devastation of Hurricane Andrew in the aftermath, set in a poor rural community. The turns throughout the piece are carefully considered and the writing by Montana Cypress is like a symphony, it flows and moves, it’s captivating to watch.
The direction by Monica Martin is especially eye-catching, thoughtful and heartfelt There are some moments which mother and daughter mirror and it really is beautifully done.
What I didn't like
Some of the soundscapes, although atmospheric and integral to the scenes were loud in parts. I lost some of the actors under the soundscape. if a couple of the male actors could up the projection and maybe pick up the pace in places, this would be fantastic. In one scene I think that there was an issue with dialogue but handled well.
My overall impression
Beautifully written piece by Montana Cypress, set in Florida in the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew. A beautiful thought provoking and engaging piece.
