What I liked
This cast tackles some odd, difficult material with ferocity. The simple premise hides some truly heavy themes that come to light in an intense climax. There is violence in this show that may be off-putting to some audiences, but I found it fascinating to see how the tension builds to the level it does. I love heavy dramas and this one hit so many interesting notes as it unfolds. Congratulations to everyone involved with this show!
What I didn't like
The only disappointment is the show isn’t longer. You want to know more about these characters as their secrets get revealed and you want to spend more time with these intense actors. This piece deserves a full set, a bigger home, a longer run and a longer running time.
My overall impression
A dark drama that goes to tragic places, Tommy’s Room is a harrowing piece that shows no fear in tackling controversial subject matter. The result is a disturbing thrill ride of dramatic theater, brought painfully to life by a truly strong cast. This piece stayed with me long after it ended.
