What I liked

Immersive. Audio effects. True stories. Carl’s interplay. He works the stage rather than being stationary and monotone. You can’t be bored to narcolepsy. You are there.

What I didn't like

Show needs more of an audience. Carl’s timing with the audio cues can be tightened. I can imagine a situation where possible he can have the real life contacts in his stories called out in the audience.

My overall impression

Genuine, Human, Immersive

Carl is genuine. This is not a set about a sexually frustrated wife at home with two kids having the comic lampoon them in front of strangers for laughs. No, this is Carl who odd as it may seem has a life that is all too comically true. Why embellish when the truth has your audience busting a gut.

Human it is. Carl has a talent for bringing you to the scene that he is illustrating with words. You are there. You feel for the man who has had some pratfalls all too often. Yeah you laugh at his misfortune but you cheer for his drive to overcome. He can laugh at himself and he is ok with you joining in. You don’t laugh at him you laugh with him knowing that deep down you are happy that he is here to tell you the stories that have you enthralled.

Yes it is immersive. High marks for the audio effects that greatly enhance the quality. You are chasing the bus with Carl or find yourself wondering where he is. It is like Being John Malkovich but Carl Kozlowski instead.

Go see the show. You will appreciate his art and frankly we all need to enjoy stories such as his. This is truly the reality genre at its core. Looking forward to the next chapter.
