What I liked

The leading actors were wonderful. They had great chemistry and handled the massive amounts of lines and lyrics easily. The transitions from the table to the living adventure are believable and I loved their investment in the game. Great voices, too. I really loved the development of Karen’s character, and Katie Lynn is a wonder in that role.

What I didn't like

I felt that the ensemble was unwieldy, and I think there could have been half as many of them.

The set changes were loud and distracting. Tables and chairs should be picked up-not dragged. In that vein I also felt like there were just too many chairs and tables.

I also felt that there was a disconnect between the intensity of the players and the odd caricatures of the ensemble when in the game Was the ensemble supposed to be funny? If so, it makes no sense when the players are fighting with such passion.

One last thing – the music was often too loud and many lyrics missed. Especially on the opening number, I could not hear any of the solo lines.

I’m sorry to nitpick but I love this show. One more thing – in the beginning people are rolling dice at the tables and it’s really loud.

My overall impression

Well done. It moved me. Terrific leads, engaging music, a story that draws you in even if you don’t know what RPGs are.
