Boom Stick walks the precarious tightrope of pathos and laughter and sticks the landing with unprecedented skill, honesty, warmth and even hope. And anything Lauren Sperling touches will be gold. Funeral Potatoes is such an endearing show. The script is short and sweet and gives you a beautiful little glimpse into the lives of two best friends as they deal with the incredibly hard fact that one of them knows they're going to die soon. This show hit really close to home, and the wonderful acting, writing, and directing of this piece tied together to tell a really lovely story.... full review

A poignant and emotional time in the lives of two very close friends becomes a reflection on our own life as we hear and experience some of their pain. The writing is very good, and the two young actors brought life experience seemingly beyond their years along with them as they take us through a journey that causes all of us watching to feel their insecurities about what is about to happen. A great story with a great message. When I leave a show thinking about an aspect of life- no matter if it is about friendship, love, social issues, etc.- and I want to do something about it for myself, I feel that is evidence that a story was done or told well. That is exactly how I felt leaving Funeral Potatoes. I also appreciate stories like this because they are a big part of the healing process for audience members who may have gone through similar things. This helped. Thank you. ... full review
