“Dear Diary” was incredibly relatable and well-written. The concept of being able to have a dialogue with your adolescent self was brilliant and well-executed with lots of tenderness, sass, cleverness, and heart. A punchy and poignant short!
“Eguchi” has a special place in my heart because I am also half-asian and it is so refreshing to see thoughtful exploration of identity by people I can see myself in. Will definitely be watching this actor and playwright!
“Snow” was funny and well-acted, with a timely and succinct premise. A witty script that I was unsurprised to see came from a prolific tv writer as it reminded me in welcome ways of “West Wing” and “The Office”.
What I didn't like
The lighting was off once or twice, but overall great work!
My overall impression
A wonderful way to spend a half-hour! A nice through-line of “legacy” connects these three pieces; first the personal, then the familial, and finally the national. Three markedly different ways to explore identity, accountability, and history. Great work from a large team who managed to stitch together stylistically disparate elements and somehow make them work in a jam-packed thirty minutes.
