I loved all of the one-on-one interaction with the gods. We had a solid identity as a demigod – we filled out a personality quiz that told us who our godly parent was before the show! – and this identity was easy to align with, since the gods recognized us as their children and even gave us special tasks to do because of it. I was a child of Athena, and felt distinct loyalty toward her, especially because the actress was particularly adept at improv and made me feel welcome. I felt like I affected the story with my fellow demigods, and that if we had done anything differently the ending would have shifted toward one side instead of the other. An amazingly repeatable experience!
What I didn't like
My only complaint would be making it longer – time flew by with how much fun I had! I was never bored, as there were a plethora of games to play and gods to talk to if I ever found myself standing around.
My overall impression
It felt like being in a live-action video game! No other production I’ve been to has allowed me to actually “become” part of the story as much as ASCEND did. All of the production elements helped me feel like a true demigod, and I can’t wait to come back and try out another storyline to see how the story changes!
