What I liked
I am a huge fan of Four Clowns and always have been. This style of theater offers to audiences exactly what we need live theater for in the first place—- heart, belly laughs, and a reminder that we’re in this together.
The show is physical, immersive without being pushy, and hi lights the audience in a way that’s empowering and delightful rather than alienating. Immersive theatre can often walk a very fine line of being terribly uncomfortable, but it never felt that way at all. The whole audience was on board because it was just fun like a happy rainbow dance party. (But with cowboys)
Also…. the “Muppet Man” style scene with a corpse? I’m in, baby. I’m. All. In.
What I didn't like
To be honest, the critic in me didn’t show up in my mind until long after I had been in the car for half an hour—- I attribute this to the fact that the show allowed me to be so present, that I wasn’t thinking about possible improvements.
There were a few small details in the story that felt incomplete—- I would have delighted in more specificity of the relationships between the three siblings. Maybe give them a reoccurring game, or something goofy that tells the audience something specific about this family.
Also, more fun noodles. I wanted more fun noodles.
My overall impression
I love to giggle and snort at sexy, melodramatic silliness. I was delighted at this immersive little theater experience.
