Clark Wade - a jazzy tragedy.

solo performance · maison musique · Ages 16+ · United States of America

one person show world premiere

By all accounts, Danny Barker was a one-of-a-kind. Born in New Orleans in 1909, he began playing music professionally by his teens. His career as guitarist, banjo man, composer, storyteller, and author spans what is considered the great era of Jazz. Danny Barker worked with everybody.

His recollections of Storyville were published posthumously and are perhaps the best insight into Mr. Barker’s peculiar and darkly humorous genius. Clark Wade is the story of a country boy who comes to the big city and gets sucked into its wicked ways.

This premiere is the Fringe debut of Esquizito, a New Orleans son who enjoys a distinctive life in Jazz.
