WHO’S YOUR FAVORITE CELEBRITY?! I’m here live at the Fringe Festival in Hollywood. Just saw the 30-minute play ‘Siren Call’ by Jola Cora. So, this dysfunctional romantic couple breaks into the home of a famous celebrity and takes her hostage. I won’t spoil it for you, but I can say that this quick play is ENTERTAINING. Witty, referential, sexy, and scary, this minimalist three-person critique of the idea of celebrity challenges our incessant worship of movie stars. (Don’t act like you don’t have a favorite!) As an audience, we hung on every line, like a sit-com. And the actors were so close we could touch them. In fact, I feel like I might have been an accomplice to a crime. And they have an after party right after the show! ... full review

An eerie tale that interlaces the ideas of the unity of the universe that keeps you on your toes the whole time. You spend the whole play trying to figure out the purpose and leaves you guessing until the very last moment. ... full review

Siren Call blew me away - it morphs before your eyes from comedy, to drama, to mystery - to something deep, subversive, and unbelievably intriguing. Louis Harrell and Annalee Scott are a thrill to watch as a couple at odds with not only one another, but with themselves, and Jola Cora shines in the most engaging and hypnotic performance I've seen in a very long time. ... full review

An absolutely stunning show that had me captivated from start to finish. There was so much tension and I was raptured the whole time. The themes were so smart and beautifully articulated. And the surreal tone really added a beautiful shimmer to the whole production. And wonderful actors!... full review

A mysterious, poetic and thought-provoking piece with themes that will permeate and connect with many in the audience. Well-acted and performed the cast creates a world and a dialect unique to the wonderful script and world created by Jola Cora. It is a play that will leave you thinking long after you have left the theater.... full review

The acting was solid, the writing was inspiring and the experience is quite potent! Jola Cora finds a way to both expose the lunacy of obsessively desiring the life in the lights and she also shows the burden that every human being carries on their own personal journey, our empirical ego -- that movie playing in our heads, so to speak -- is quite trivial in the grander scheme of humanity and our potential as a species, without patronizing anyone for wanting to be an artist or an individual. Cora is quite a savant thinker as well as a natural playwright, and in "Siren Call," this is in full display! ... full review

A smart and tense play that questions the very nature of celebrities and the fame that follows them. When faced with your heroes, how far are you willing to go to be like them?... full review
