Michael has such a unique style of storytelling. His 'off the cuff' style had me on the edge of my seat. He opens up his heart, as he goes through the few keepsake pieces that he could save from being destroyed in a fire. What a rollercoaster ride of emotions from the devastation of tragedy to the liberation of surrender to what is and choosing to live on the edge of sweet memories. ... full review

It was a touching and honest one man show about his life's peak experiences. Some events we will all have to go through, and they are often times muted or taboo. Death, depression, natural catastrophes. Some events we are all aware of but avoid bringing to surface. It is done with such spirit, vulnerability and humor. Cathartic. I highly recommend this show to anyone and hope, it will grow to be accessible to a large audience. Very talented storyteller.... full review

Wonderfully captivating and engaging from start to finish. Starting with waking up to the Woolsey Fire in Malibu and being evacuated from his home on a moments notice, he is somehow able to bring a comedic lightness to an otherwise devastating situation. Michael brings you in to his world of loss, love and celebration in his own heartfelt and comedic way that leaves you both laughing and crying. Each vignette or story threads together a beautiful picture; one of gratitude, awe, mystery, and love.... full review

Michael Ker's Birthday is a cerebral and heartfelt comedic patchwork from the upside-down world of grief. It takes a sideways look at masculinity, the passive-aggressive undercurrents of family dynamics, and the shifting roles we play in the lives of those we stay close to when we lose track of our own constricting identities. It's funny. It's sad. It includes important reminders of what we gain when we lose everything.... full review

I really enjoyed Michael David Kers performance in “Birthday” last night. I found everything about it honest, unique and inspirational. (Sadly a rare experience these days.) A bit of an emotional roller coaster, you are drawn in immediately and engaged fully throughout. Beautifully crafted, it is raw, self deprecating, and fluid. Mr. is a talent with an empowering vehicle.... full review

Michael is a charming storyteller! A wonderful mix of honesty, humor, and insight mixed into the raw recounting of some of the harshest tragedies that could befall a person, losing parents and losing a home... all in one year! Birthday is a celebration of life and death and connecting to the tether of sanity that guides us through all of it with humor and grace. ... full review
