Tattered Capes

What I liked

From a visual perspective, my favorite thing was the use of the screens and shadow-work for flashbacks. It was highly effective without taking anything away from the characters in the present. As a big fan of minimalistic set design, I honestly loved the screens in all the ways they were utilized. The costumes for the heroes were charming. I was particularly fond of the “The” on the back of The Owl’s jacket.

What I didn't like

The downside to the screens was that those on the fringes of the audience could see the action taking place behind them. Perhaps some means of extending the screens out would prevent that (though admittedly, it might make them too bulky for easy movement).

My overall impression

Tattered Capes was fantastic. It payed homage to the big guns of the superhero world while creating something truly original. The interplay of the love story within the world of fighting super-villains was one that I’ve never before seen played out through both the couple’s romantic arc as well as their competitiveness.
