They managed to pack in a lot of physical action in a tight space without ever making us fear for anyone’s safety – that sounds geeky nervous but it’s actually a tremendous accomplishment. The use of shadow play works well and the cast is good.
What I didn't like
It was a hard transition from the opening scene into all that followed because even though we knew we were going to be watching a show about superheroes, it might help to give us a little bit of context when we meet the couple. Where are we, what kind of world are we in – we learn all of this as we go and sometimes that takes us out of the moment. Not sure how you would do it but with a creative team this inventive, I challenge you to try.
My overall impression
This is a fascinating exploration of all things superhero through the lens of a married couple who do not know that they are secretly both good guys. The most intriguing aspects of the show are hard to discuss without giving anything away but, in general terms, the show seems to explore the potential for tension in a relationship when it appears trust has been betrayed while it sends both characters through an emotional gauntlet that questions just what it might take to turn a good person into a bad one.
