What I liked

The choreography was deeply impressive, the creative representations of superpowers were fun, clever, and effective, and the cast seemed both to be having a great time and still engaged in the intense focus a show like this requires.

What I didn't like

Having seen several scenes of the initial script produced at Sacred Fools Serial Killers series, I missed a couple of the clever representations of superpowers that seem to have been written out to streamline aspects of the story, but there are plenty that remain to balance that. Personally I’d love the characters to have just a little more time to give further nuance to the emotional arcs that they go through. With a fully staged version with a slightly longer run time and the removal of the load-in/load-out times restricting the show from being the glorious spectacle that it clearly is, this show can only get better from having even more leg room.

My overall impression

This show was a blast, with a ton of energy from start to finish and some of the most impressive and difficult fight choreography that I’ve ever seen in a Fringe show. Travis Dixson delivers as he always does with unrelenting energy, charisma and talent, while Joanna Mercedes manages an amazing balance of deeply felt emotional moments with super heroic bravado that manages to be both appropriately melodramatic and entirely real in the feelings evoked. This isn’t a hard show to recommend. Exactly the kind of awesome, slightly crazed stuff you hope to see at Hollywood Fringe.
