A fun adventure in the comic book world! Husband and wife both have super powders but have kept them from each other. Finally one night they must reveal their identity. This is a fun, fast paced show. The choreography and fights are well done and the use of the space and props are suburb. I loved that they kept it dramatic instead of crazy, wacky or over the top. The acting is very grounded and realistic. ... full review

"Tattered Capes" was thoroughly entertaining from start to finish. With a complex and witty script that can be enjoyed as a largely light-hearted pastiche of familiar superhero stories and their big-screen interpretations, this tale takes some unexpected turns into meditations on love, honesty, and the need for acceptance. the audience is treated to several exciting action sequences and intensely emotional moments along the way. The author, director, and cast seem fully aware of the genre's inherent absurdity and tendency toward the extreme without ever condescending to it or losing sight of its power to convey meaningful truths about the real world. There is plenty of humor and gentle mocking of tropes, but no breaking of character or wi... full review

TATTERED CAPES accomplished the difficult task of taking a genre that has traditionally existed solely in print or onscreen and making it work for the stage. Gregory Crafts does a terrific job of crafting all of the nostalgia, geeky fun superhero tropes, and social/moral discourse that surround these larger-than-life heroes. This is a must see! Surely it will be extended, so if you aren't able to catch it at Fringe, make it a priority to keep an eye out for additional performances!... full review

Tattered Capes was fantastic. It payed homage to the big guns of the superhero world while creating something truly original. The interplay of the love story within the world of fighting super-villains was one that I've never before seen played out through both the couple's romantic arc as well as their competitiveness. ... full review

Tattered Capes is an epic story trapped in a 80 minute show. What could have easily been a more extensive TV series is here squeezed all its juice into one action-packed show. It deserves a second viewing.... full review

A super-fun (pun intended, obviously) romantic action piece about insecurity and deep love. I didn't see TC until Extensions and I now understand why it won BEST DANCE AND PHYSICAL THEATER - the use of shadowplay and combat sequences may not have been crucial to the plot, but they WERE crucial to the production. TATTER CAPES had a cinematic vibe while employing tried-and-true theatrical conventions, adding up to a unique yet comfortably familiar experience - cast (especially Dixon, Mercedes, and King) was outstanding, with great shadow work from the ensemble, and well-executed direction bringing locations to life without the use of video effects (which could easily have been employed as a catch-all). A solid script with an excellent twist (a... full review
