What I liked

George gets the details right, from George’s insecurity about his own writing abilities, his limited ability to work with actors, his hatred of directing, his problems with certain members of the cast, and the ultimate deal for Star Wars that seemed foolhardy at the time, but turned him into the most powerful outsider the film industry has ever known.

What I didn't like

The conceit of having various other famous filmmakers take turns narrating the transitions from scene to scene got to be a little tiresome.

My overall impression

The road to making Star Wars, arguably the defining movie of my generation was anything but smooth. This play accurately captures the stress, misfires and sacrifices, and panic along the way as George Lucas went from being a student filmmaker with a few short films under his belt to being the man that revolutionized the film industry.
