First of all, props to Heather Kozlakowski and other solo artists with shows running under an hour. This show leaves you wanting more – which is a good thing.
She is an intensely grounded performer and makes you feel safe to explore her very personal world. Her story is engaging, funny, sad and utterly relatable. Her portrayal of her father is gripping to watch.
Highly recommend!
What I didn't like
My only issues were technical in nature. Some of the sound cues were a little distracting and didn’t really add anything to Heather Kozlakowski’s deft storytelling. And the venue itself needs to work on the issue of the front door. It was slightly ajar the entire show and the noise from Santa Monica Blvd traffic and people outside was drawing attention from the performance. And I saw the show at 6pm on a Monday- so hardly the busiest foot traffic time.
