This show is freaking wild! Dandy Darkly’s style is that of a sinister vaudevillian dressed in drag queen chic – it’s incredibly compelling and worth taking a hop into the coal car for the dirty, grimy ride.
The outfit is on point, and so is the performance. Dandy Darkly utilizes a full range of motion, both physical and vocal, to tell his tales. He is a spellbinding performer – carefully choreographed, but brimming with freedom at the same time.
And the score really punctuates his act. The stories would be good on their own, but they’re timed out in a pseudo-poetic rhythm that is bolstered by a score which knows when to ramp up and back off.
What I didn't like
I loved this I want to be Dandy Darkly when I grow up.
My overall impression
Dandy Darkly is a:
Character.
Storyteller.
Vaudeville star.
Carnival Barker.
Mad Prophet.
Spokesperson of a Twisted World.
