I loved this play although it made me sad for the main character, Jin Hi. She idolizes her father, but he couldn’t care less about her. Her mother is mean and is always calling her stupid and useless. She tries hard to be a good daughter, but the bar is impossibly high. She never gets credit for all the things she does correctly, and she feels isolated and alone. It’s not just normal teenage angst, she is completely controlled by her overbearing mom and the Korean culture. School sucks, home life sucks, she doesn’t have any friends or other family to hang out with. ...

Generally , i think all actors perform really well.
If anything i wish lighting effect was better at adjusting for ending scene. Due to lighting effect , i was confused content of ending scene. Did the prodigy killed herself or something else ?? I know something tragic happened since prodigy memories presented symbolic of father and piano....

The best Fringe Show I’ve seen so far-poignant and unique, PRODIGY gives you a sneak peak into the life of a Korean-American family. 15 minutes in, your heartstrings get pulled, and by the end of the play, I was in tears. The cast acted with heart and humility, and the direction kept the show moving along at a real-time pace. I would go see this show AGAIN! A must see....

PRODIGY is the story of a very bright and sweetly bumbling Korean-American girl looking for a soft place to land. Kristen Lee, writer, producer, and star of PRODIGY is a delight. She is joined by a strong cast and swift direction that moves the story through laughter, tension, trauma, and tears. This is a beautiful play about hope and sacrifice and it is a very strong contribution to the Hollywood Fringe Festival. ...
