Solid acting, an excellent script, and lovely use of live piano throughout the performance.
What I didn't like
At times the show felt rushed, but I imagine the faster pacing was simply in order to stay within festival time constraints. Someday I would love to see PRODIGY with an extra five minutes of breathing time spread throughout the show, that the truly powerful moments might land as weightily as they are able.
My overall impression
PRODIGY is the story of a very bright and sweetly bumbling Korean-American girl looking for a soft place to land. Kristen Lee, writer, producer, and star of PRODIGY is a delight. She is joined by a strong cast and swift direction that moves the story through laughter, tension, trauma, and tears. This is a beautiful play about hope and sacrifice and it is a very strong contribution to the Hollywood Fringe Festival.
